Mt. Shasta With A Linticular Cloud

Mt. Shasta

Yesterday a friend emailed me about great fall color in the Mt. Shasta area. Mary and I decided to go see. We got up at 5am and left at 6:12am. When we got to Mt. Shasta city it was too dark to photograph, so I pulled into the Black Bear Diner for some breakfast.

We did notice a very interesting linticular cloud capping Mt. Shasta, discussed going up, but decided there was not enough time to get there by sunrise. Then I changed our mind and we (I) drove up the Everett Memorial Highway quickly.

Low and behold we made it. We shot the cloud/mountain for over an hour. The cloud sort of blew off and the light left so we headed back down to town for some breakfast....again. 7 grain, nutty, almond waffles, yummy.

Back to the fall color. It was windy up on the mountain and down in town. Too windy for good leaf shots. The color was beautiful though. We ended up getting some more shots of the cloud later from the Castle Lake road. Mary found a bunch of mushroom shots too.

All in all it was a fun, nice day in Mt. Shasta. Thanks Dean.
